Falanghina

White Grape

Info

The white grape Falanghina is grown in the regions: Abruzzo, Apulia, Basilicata, Campania, Latium, Molise, Sardinia, Umbria.
The origins remain uncertain, the information collected dates back more or less to 1825. It was probably the Roman merchants who brought this grape to Italy from Greece, spreading its cultivation in the center and south. It owes its name to the Latin “phalange”, that is “tied to the stake”, due to the ancient cultivation system with which the vine was grown.

Wine Characteristics

The wine produced with Falanghina grapes has a straw white color with greenish reflections, a pleasant, fruity aroma, a dry, fresh, velvety, slightly acidic but always delicate and special flavor; while varying the nature of the land and the climate, the wines always maintain the best organoleptic qualities.
