Pinot Grigio Grape

The gray-berried Pinot Grigio grape is grown in the regions of Abruzzo, Apulia, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Latium, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Piedmont, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Trentino Alto Adige, Umbria, Valle d’Aosta, Veneto.
This grape is originally from Burgundy, although it is currently no longer widespread in France. The introduction in Italy is due to a Piedmontese producer who began its cultivation in the Alessandria area and in the Cuneo area around 1820. Like the pinot bianco, the pinot grigio also originates from a mutation of the pinot noir.

Characteristics of the wine

From the Pinot Grigio grape a straw yellow colored wine with golden reflections is obtained. Slightly fragrant, fruity, dry, alcoholic, soft, fresh, harmonious and balanced nose. If vinified in coppery it takes on a slightly bitter taste. It has no particular predisposition to long refinements.
