Greco Grape
White Grape
The Greco grape variety, with white berried grapes, is grown in the regions of Abruzzo, Apulia, Campania, Latium, Liguria, Molise, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria.
Greco is a grape variety which, like almost all grape varieties that contain the term “Greek” or references to it in the root of the name, probably comes from Greece.
Two sub-varieties have developed from the original variety of Greco: Greco Bianco, a Calabrian grape that takes its name from the town of Bianco, on the Ionian coast of Calabria and Greco. Both vines concur in the composition of valuable southern whites. The best known wine made with this variety is the Greco di Tufo DOCG whose production area is located north of Avellino around the town of Tufo.
Characteristics of the wine
From the Greco grape a wine with a more or less intense straw yellow color is obtained, with pleasant, intense, fine and characteristic floral and fruity scents. In the mouth it is dry, with good freshness and a harmonious finish.
