Malvasia Nera di Brindisi Grape
Black Grape
The black grape Malvasia Nera di Brindisi is grown in the regions of Apulia, Calabria and Tuscany.
Malvasia Nera di Brindisi is a vine of Greek origin, which derives from the name of the port of the Peloponnese of Monemvasia, Italianized by Venetian merchants. In the National Catalog of Vine Varieties it appears registered next to the black Malvasia of Lecce, even if the genetic analogies between the two vines are very close.
Characteristics of the wine
From the Malvasia Nera di Brindisi grape a deep ruby red wine with violet reflections is obtained. The nose is fruity and aromatic with notes of pomegranate and raspberry. On the palate it shows good structure, good alcohol content and moderate sapidity, with the right acidity. Vinified with Negroamaro in the absence of pomace it can also give excellent rosé wines.
