Grignolino Grape
Black Grape
The black grape Grignolino is grown in the Piedmont region .
Grignolino is a vine whose origins date back to the end of the eighteenth century on the hills between Asti and Casale Monferrato, where it is still present today. According to some scholars, the name could derive from “grignola”, a dialectal term used to indicate grape seeds, which in this variety are numerous compared to other vines.
Widespread in Piedmont, this vine is grown mainly in the vineyard areas of the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo.
Characteristics of the wine
From the Grignolino grape a wine of a light ruby red color is obtained, with a tendency to orange due to aging, with a delicately fruity aroma, slightly tannic, pleasant, fairly balanced flavor.
